Story Behind Album's Creation/Inspiration

My debut album "Ashes to Always" is a deeply personal reflection of my journey through heartache, healing, and finding new love. As I continued writing songs, using music as a therapeutic outlet to cope with the dissolution of my marriage and the blossoming relationship with my new love, Brandon, I found myself creating songs that fit either side of the emotional spectrum—songs about break-ups and loss, and songs about rediscovering love and hope. This led me to start drafting what I envisioned as my first full album.

Then, on the night before Brandon and I’s third anniversary, I had an inspirational moment. I wanted to write him a song as both a dedication and an anniversary gift. I sat down, began writing the lyrics, and the melody came to me so naturally that I lost track of time. Before I knew it, it was dawn. I hurriedly finished the melody and beat, recorded the track, and woke up Brandon to play it for him. Later, I burned him a CD copy of the song. That song ended up becoming "Love You to Death and Back Again," and it quickly became my number one hit almost overnight.

Seeing the success of that song, I decided to turn the album into a two-disc set. Where one disc would be about break-ups and heartache, the other about new love and healing. Wanting "Love You to Death and Back Again" to be a showcase track and knowing I wanted to release it on Valentine’s Day, as a fitting tribute to love in all its forms. I went steadfast into the project, but when it came time to settle on an album title, I found myself drawing a blank. Eventually, "Ashes to Always" came to me, and with that title, I realized that "Love You to Death and Back Again" needed something to help it showcase the heart of the album. So, I wrote and recorded the title track, "Ashes to Always", which ended up becoming my fourth single.

This album became a way to capture the full range of emotions I’ve lived through—from the pain of loss to the beauty of finding love again—and to share that journey with my listeners. "Ashes to Always" isn’t just an album. It’s my story, my healing, and my dedication to love in all its forms.
